With all this talk about guns I looked up to see just how many guns are in the United States. According to article in Reuters, “The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world. US citizens own 270 million of the worlds 875 million know firearms. About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns in the world manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States.”
My mom severed as a police officer for 22 years on the Arlington County Force. When some one retires from the force they are given their gun as a gift. My mom was the only one who didn’t want the gun. I recently asked her how often she fired her gun and she said never.
Why do we feel the need to buy so many guns?
In the same way laws alone will not eliminate abortion. Laws alone will not eliminate gun violence. Even if we took away every gun if someone wanted to kill they still could make a bomb.
Because the truth remains there is something in our heart that moves many of us to purchase more and more guns.
Question is not, is the second amendment good? The question is why do we feel the need to own so many of the world guns?
