Pope Francis writes, ” All were filled with the Spirit” (Acts 2:4).Speaking to the Apostles at the Last Supper, Jesus said that, after his departure from this world, that he would send them the gift of the Father, that is, the Holy Spirit (cf. John 15:26). This promise is fulfilled with power on the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descends upon the disciples gathered in the cenacle. That outpouring, while extraordinary, did not remain unique and limited to that moment, but is an event that is renewed and continues to be renewed. Christ glorified at the right hand of the Father continues to realize his promise, sending the Church the vivifying Spirit, who teaches us and reminds us and makes us speak.”
We are called to be filled with the Holy Spirit, vibrating at the Spirit’s touch, resting in the Father’s Heart. The Holy Spirit is our comforter, friend and artist. We are called to have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. We cannot fail if we invoke the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to come into our hearts. Mary is the perfect model of obedience. She put up no obstacles to the Holy Spirit working in her life.
John Paul II wrote, “Jesus Christ, the faithful Witness, the Pastor of pastors, is in our midst…With us is the Spirit of the Lord which guides the Church to the fullness of truth and renews her with the revealed word in a new Pentecost….Be faithful to your baptism…give new life to the great gift you have received, turn your hearts and gaze to the center and origin, to him who is the basis of all happiness, the fullness of everything! Be open to Christ, welcome the Spirit, so that a new Pentecost may take place in every community! A new humanity, a joyful one, will arise from your midst; you will experience again the saving power of the Lord and ‘what was spoken to you by the Lord’ will be fulfilled. What ‘was spoken to you’, is his love for you, his love for each one, for all your families and people…today the Lord is passing by. He is calling you. In the moment of grace, he is once again calling you by name and renewing his covenant with you. May you listen to his voice so that you may know true, total joy and enter into his peace.”
Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts, lives and homes of your faithful.
