Mary Temple of the Holy Spirit. Mary image icon of the Church, the Church is filled with the Holy Spirit

Gabriel said to Mary, “The Holy Spirit will over shadow you and the power of the Most High will come upon you.” Mary is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Mary is the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit. Mary is filled with the Holy Spirit. Mary is an image of the Church. St Augustine said, “What the soul is to the body the Holy Spirit is to the Church. The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church.”

Pope Paul VI said, “All of Mary’s gifts, fruits, virtues and charisms flow from her relationship with the Holy Spirit.” All of the Church’s gifts, fruits, virtues and charisms flow from the Holy Spirit at work in and through the Church. Pope Paul VI wrote, “The interior renewal of Christians and their reconciliation with God and with one another are absolutely necessary. This can occur only if the soul of the faithful is dominated by the worship of the Spirit, who is the supreme source of charity, unity and peace. But in harmony with this worship, kindled and enlivened by the fire of Divine love, there also be the veneration of the great Mother of God and Mother of the Church.”

Let these words of Paul VI touch your heart.
“We invite you to honor the Holy Spirit in the Madonna; she was filled by him and from him received her divine motherhood. Let us honor the Holy Spirit in the Church, which is his temple and the vehicle which ministers him to souls. Let us honor the Holy Spirit in each person who has received him, in your person, who have been elevated by him to the Christian life.”

“Mary obtains love. She conceived Christ through the action of the Holy Spirit, who is living love, God-Love. She who presided over the birth of the Church on the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit filled the group of disciples-the Apostles being first among them-and breathed a life of unity and charity into the mystical and historical body of Christians into redeemed mankind. And we have come here to implore, through Mary’s intercession, the never ending continuance of this same miracle; to obtain from her, as from a spring, a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit.”
