Today is the Feast of the Archangels Thoughts on Raphael ‘Soul Institute’

Today on the feast of the Arch Angels. Some thoughts on one of the Arch Angels Raphael.

Saint Raphael is the patron saint of healing and happy meetings. Every day in prayer I invoke Raphael to go to all the people who have asked me for prayers. I also ask him to guide my steps so that I can have happy meetings with people during my day. His name meaning ‘God Heals’ or the ‘Divine Healer’ the Archangel Raphael is mentioned on Scripture in only one book, that of ‘Tobit.’ And it is as a healer, guide, matchmaker and exorcist that Raphael accomplished the mission given him by God.

Let Us Pray.

Lord, Jesus Christ, by the prayer of the Archangel Raphael, grant
us the grace to avoid all sin and to persevere in every good work
until we reach our Heavenly destination, Thou Who livest and reignest
world without end. Amen.

Joan Carroll Cruz in her book ‘Angels and Devils’ writes, ” Since the Archangel served as a guide for Tobias and is regarded as the patron of travelers, his services were called upon by St Anthony Mary Claret (1807-1870) during his visit to Marseilles, a city with which he was unfamiliar, while he was awaiting passage on a ship to Rome. In answer to the saint’s prayers, a young man presented himself at his room and offered his services as a guide. The young man accompanied St. Anthony Mary wherever he needed to go, but always left his side at meal time, only to appear at the end of the meal. On the day of the saint’s departure, the young guide accompanied him to the port, saw him safely aboard the ship and promptly disappeared. The saint’s biographer reports, ‘Assuredly it was the Archangel Saint Raphael, whom Blessed Anthony invoked at the beginning of his itinerary.'”

Raphael, the Divine healer, seems to have been at work at Jerusalem, in the days of Christ our Lord, in the pool called Bethsaida by the Sheepgate. In the five porticoes surrounding that pool there was a multitude of sick people, waiting for the action of the Angel upon the water of the pool, an action which cured immediately any person who first descended into the pool: “An Angel of the Lord used to come down at certain times into the pool and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pool after the motion of the water, was cured of whatever infirmity he had.”

Prayer by father Stefan that I say every morning

Archangel Raphael pour your healing grace into me, and go to everyone who has asked me for prayers. Raphael patron saints of happy meeting, guide my every step and provide many happy but unexpected God appointed meetings through out my day.
