While reading the Reading for this coming Sunday. I believe the Holy Spirit gave me the basic outline for the first two talks for the ‘Soul Institute.’ Here is First Talk.
The Gospel this Sunday is the wedding Feast at Cana
The Wedding at Cana
2 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.[a] 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
And I read in my Magnificat these words “The miracle of ‘good wine’ continues through the outpouring of the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit to each individual.”
First Talk asking Mary to obtain for us the good wine of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The seconding reading for this Sunday is….
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
So asking Mary to obtain these gifts for us….
Than in the reflection in my Magnificat read this about the Sunday Reading…This form the substance for the second talk for the future ‘Soul Institute.’
1 Peter 4:10-11 “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace. Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God will be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
Than there was this verse from Romans 12:6 ” Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given us, let us exercise them.”
Than this verse was given from Eph 4:7 “Grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s Gift.”
Pour out Your Spirit upon us O Lord
First Asking Mary using the story of the Wedding Feast of Cana to intercede to Jesus for us to pour out the good wine of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit upon us
Secondly using the above scripture verse that call us to ‘Exercise the Gift.’
Thirdly to grow with the gifts–Equip the saints-become mature Christians using the Gifts for the Greater Glory of God.
Than the First reading for this Sunday is Isaiah 62 1-5
1 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her vindication goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch.
2 The nations shall see your vindication, and all the kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name which the mouth of the LORD will give.
3 You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called My delight is in her, and your land Married; for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.
This Image is that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are the Gifts that Bride Groom Jesus gives to His Bride to make her beautiful.
When I got this insight from this Sunday reading Jan 17 Second Sunday of Ordinary time it felt like a Holy Spirit Confirmation for the ‘Soul Institute’ and the basic of the first two talks that will be given in the future institute.
A Joy filled my heart that was similar to when St Therese found in scripture the beautiful verse about “Love being the more excellent way.”
