Mother’s day, Motherhood and the Holy Spirit

I just got an emergency call to go to the hospital and anoint this woman. Her son said that she only has minutes to live. I anointed her, and twenty members of the family prayed the divine mercy chaplet. After I anointed her I felt something of what a mother feels like when she give birth to a child. On Mother’s day even a priest can feel like a mother. Now we know that a priest is not a mother, but he can experience some of the feeling of motherhood. St Paul says in Galatians, ” My little children, with whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you.” (Gal 4:19) St Paul is certainly drawing on a maternal image.
